Eastlake Group - improving the way people work

major expansion in manchester

Workplace interiors specialist, the eastlake group, has announced a major expansion for its Manchester operation. The expansion will see the Middleton-based team expand from 12 to 18, with a projected turnover increase of £4m to £6.5m.

Regional sales director for eastlake commercial interiors (eci) in the north west, David Gomer, has plans to expand the eci business into the Greater Manchester area, with particular emphasis on the financial and legal sectors. Current clients include BT, ITN and Swinton Group Limited.

He has already expanded the sales team with the recruitment of business development consultant Berndt Wiese and senior business development consultant Hazel Thomson. Wiese - previously employed by ENZA Interiors in Sydney, and Thomson - previously with AWM Group Ltd, have proven track records within the industry and Gomer is confident they will assist him and his team in achieving the expansion targets.

Completed projects include: the refurbishment of BT’s Showcase & Innovation Centre in Stockport, work with Manchester-based international architects firm Aedas, as well as with Liverpoool Direct Limited and the most recent project in the region, the relocation of Swinton Commercial Division from its Head Office in Great Marlborough Street, into new office premises at Bridgewater House, Manchester.

Gomer, who has been charged with growing the Manchester area, said: “This is a very exciting time for the business in Manchester right now. There is a lot going on in the city and we want to tap in to the growth and development potential.

“The services we provide are all about adding value to an organisation, creating a space which maximises productivity and communication in the most sustainable way possible. As companies become more aware of the need to maximise space and minimise waste, the need for a specialist to manage the relocation or refit projects increases, meaning that there are more opportunities for us to expand our business.

“Both myself and the eci north west team are looking forward to taking on this challenge and delivering for the business.”

The expansion comes on the back of a wider group restructure and expansion that took place last year and saw the group, which is headquartered in East Kilbride near Glasgow, increase turnover by £8m to £30m in 2007. Earlier this year, eastlake announced its first move overseas, following the creation of an office in the USA.
